I was recently offered a job that would qualify my loans for the IBR & Public Service Loan Forgivness Program. However, I recently asked to pay back my loans on a 25 year extended pay program and both IBR & PSLFP ask for a 10 year program. Do I still qualify? Is there a way to jump back on the 10 year plan so that I can get both IBR and PSLF?

You CANNOT make payments that count towards PSLF on the extended repayment plan, sorry!  You’ll need to choose IBR.  The confusing thing is that IBR is not a term repayment plan at all.  It isn’t for 10 years or 25 years.  The length of time associated with IBR varies.  Some borrowers will earn PSLF after 10 years, some will pay off their loans after some length of time (could be 12 years, or 17 years, or 22 years, or whatever), and still others will not earn PSLF but will still owe money after 25 years of repayment under IBR.  At that point, they will earn forgiveness (not tied to employment), of the remaining debt. IBR has a 25 year maximum repayment period.
