IBR processing is very slow right now. It can take months to have an application processed. Why is it so slow?
It can take 1-2 billing cycles for some servicers. The main reason why is that loan companies get flooded with applications and only have so much manpower to process. These are the same people that have to answer the phones, process deferment/forbearance requests, answer emails, etc. This is a great reason to make sure you keep General Forbearance time, it serves as a great buffer while you are waiting for your IBR to be processed. It is also a great idea to get your re certification in as soon as the paper work is sent for the same reason, the more time you give the better result you will get.
