Dear Heather,

Once enrolled in the PSLF program, am I allowed to continue working as a barista at a for-profit company in addition to working full time with a non-profit? Or am I not allowed to work outside the non-profit sector in any capacity?

Thank you so much for the advice you’ve given on this site!

As long as you make me a double tall soy latte extra hot, you can moonlight all you want.  Ha!

Seriously, yes. You can work as many jobs in as many sectors as you want.  Bear in mind that all your earned income will contribute to your Adjusted Gross Income, and so will raise your IBR payment and lower your total forgiveness somewhat.

You’re welcome!  I’d sure appreciate it if you’d Like Me on Facebook.

Thanks Heather! I think you answered this, but to clarify, can I also work in say, two non-profits part-time in order for my hours to add up to full-time?

btw I “liked” you on facebook :o)

Aww. I like you too!

Yes, you can piece together two or more jobs to reach the 30-hour per week full-time requirement and also add for profit work too.

BTW, just back from Seattle where I drank a lot of high quality coffee.  My favorite is Cafe Vivace.
