Do post-grad fellowships exclude me from participating in PSLF?

Hello,

I am a 3L in law school. If I were to apply for a post-grad fellowship like Equal Justice Works’ fellowship, where I work for a 501(c)(3) but am being paid by the fellowship, would payments made during that time be excluded from qualifying towards PSLF?

Thanks!

It depends on how the fellowship is structured.  The Equal Justice Works fellowship meets the requirement for PSLF, in that fellows are employed and paid by their nonprofit host organizations.  So EJW fellows can make payments that count towards PSLF during the fellowship.

Hello,

I would like to ask a related question on this subject.  If a post-grad fellowship is in the form of a stipend from a private law school but I am employed by a 501(c)(3), would that meet the requirement for PSLF?  The award letter I received from my law school says that I am not an employee of it.  I am only receiving money that goes to support the cost of living while I’m working at my 501(c)(3) for a few months.

Thanks.
