Any way to reverse $35k in interest capitalization after a few weeks’ lapse in IBR recertification?

I have approx. $150k in business school loans.  Signed up to get paperless account notices from my servicer, MyFedLoan, and I missed when to recertify for IBR by a few weeks.  I managed to get the recertification in and was accepted for IBR again, changing my payment from $1,800 to $400 ... but the interest had already capitalized, adding $35,000 to my loans!!  I have put in a request for the servicer to reverse the interest capitalization now that I have re-certify, but haven’t heard back from them.  I understand that it was my fault for missing the window to re-certify for IBR , but adding $35k to my loans when I clearly qualify for IBR?!  Is this something that I can take up with the Office of the Ombudsman?  Or do I have no hope?  (FYI I’m on track for PSLF in 4 years, but if they lower the limits to $57k in the new budget I’m pretty screwed…)

I would at least try the Ombudsman….you’ve got nothing to lose… but in my experience the loan servicer will only budge if they’ve made the mistake, and even then it is very difficult to get them to admit to anything unless there is solid proof. However, there is no talk of lowering the limits to $57k in the new budget. That was in the Obama budget many years ago and never was passed. The new budget talks about removing PSLF, but only for people who borrow after 2018. No caps on forgiveness in this budget proposal.

Hi,

I hope you are speaking truth. If the daily trading volume is low you are best not to sell it on the exchange. The moment you sell it the price will fall like anything. Also since you own 58% of the stock you will need to report it back to authorities and in turn people will know that the owner is selling stock making it drop exceedingly low.

Your best bet is to sell company to a prospective buyer through some negotiations. If the company is actually financially good, no long debt issues and profits are being made with just 40 employees - I bet there would be so many people ready to buy your shares of stocks.

Faced with a similar problem, I was forced to look for the right way in different forums, spending weeks from my life. I also talked with different people on how to reverse the capitalization of interest a few weeks after re-certification. And the solution turned out to be wisconsin loans bad credit which impressed me by its reliability
