I never expected in a million years that I would start such a topic, but it seems that we will be required to carry a rifle of a minimum caliber of 30.06 when we visit Greenland in the summer.
We will depart Cowes probably on June 1st and visit Orkney, the Faroe Islands and Iceland along the way, and then return directly to Northern Ireland, according to the current version of the plan.
So how to fulfill this requirement? I’ve never been near a gun in the decades I’ve lived in Europe, and I have no idea how to buy one, or what rules exist in the UK, the Faroe Islands and Icelandic waters regarding their declaration, sealing or something else. I will be very grateful for any advice, especially if there is someone who has made a similar cruise.
