I went back to school three years ago, taking all online courses because I have Crohn’s disease and cannot sit in a class for hours. I have been on SSDI for 5 years.

I am now at the point where I feel I cannot continue my education. The classes I’d need to complete a degree are not offered online and my health has declined to the point that school has now become a stress that I should eliminate.

My question is how difficult would it be to receive a disability discharge? Do I finish the semester and then apply? And can my payments be deferred while they are making their decision.

Secondly, if they should deny me and I apply for IBR, will they consider only my Social Security income or take my spouse’s income into account?
