Hi,

I live with my mother, but I pay for half of household expenses.  I have never claimed her officially on taxes as a dependent because she still works.  However I did claim her on IBR applications. What kind of proof do I have to send to them? I noticed that they quoted me an IBR payment that is higher and most likely based on household of 1 , rather than counting my application. 

Are we allowed to use parents in the household question if you do indeed help to support them?
