Hi Heather,
After consolidating my loans, I set up my automatic payments at the Federal Student Loan Servicing website,
https://www.myedaccount.com/accounts/Pages/Payoff.aspx,
and I thought everything was good to go. However, I recently sent in the employment verification form and received a letter responding that my employment as a Marine qualified and that my loans were being transferred. I have since received no payment information and have no idea how to access my loan information or where to go to do this. I didn’t think that sending in my employment verification form would change who was handling my loans. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Semper Fi,
Matt
Ok, so after hours yesterday researching where my loans went, I found the answer pretty quickly after posting on this forum (go figure). Here’s a question that is burried in a FAQ from the PSLF website:
“After I submitted the Employment Certification Form, I was notified that I would now have a different servicer for my federally held student loans. Why did my servicer change?
One of the Direct Loan servicers (FedLoan Servicing/PHEAA) has been assigned responsibility for administering PSLF for all Direct Loan borrowers. As a result, if you submit an Employment Certification Form, all of your loans held by the Department of Education (including any of your loans that are not eligible for PSLF, such as FFEL Program loans that have been purchased by the Department) will be transferred to FedLoan Servicing. (March 14, 2012)”
So, the new loan servicer’s website is http://www.myfedloan.org/. Create an account after you’ve sent in your employment verification form, and you can find all of your hard-earned student debt right there!
Ooo rah!
