What happens if public service loan forgiveness were to be cancelled?

Hi, I am in residency and my medical school loans are eligible for PSLF. Considering the majority of residencies are 4 years plus, and the majority of hospitals we will be employed in are 501(c)(3), there is a huge incentive for many of us to enroll.

But I am wondering if this policy might be canceled in the future ? This would leave us with larger debt than we would have had otherwise. (Instead of income based repayments, I would be putting as much money into paying off my loan as possible).

Is it a risk to believe this policy will last for the next 10 years ?

Thank you!
