In IBR but going back to school; don’t want “timer” suspended

After discovering that the original degrees I got were not getting me much in the way of jobs, I’ve decided to go back to school in a different discipline. I just started repayment in August, and started IBR in February. I know that if I go back to school full-time, it will automatically kick my loans back into in-school deferment.

How do I stop this from happening? I don’t want my 25-year forgiveness to be pushed off further into the future, as I owe quite a lot and would like to be done with my loans well before I retire.

I’d probably just call your lender and let them know you want to keep your payments going while you are in school and don’t want it deferred.  For any other deferment or forbearance they need your approval, so it would be weird if you didn’t have the same control with an In-School deferment.  Loan officers usually ask IBR candidates if they plan on going back to school, but that might be so they can avoid extra paperwork.  I’m interested in HJ’s opinion on this!
