My son has a student loan which looks like the US Department of Education took over from Direct Loan Program.  He was a victim of domestic violence which I know sounds strange for a man.  She was arrested a few months ago for this and he is now living with us as well as him having custody of his 2 year old daughter.  We are trying to help him as much as possible till he can get a job and get back on his feet.  In addition to her abusing him she would not let him work and would not help him with any bills.  She left him access to no monies.  Is there any kind of help he can get for his student loan.  He has been in such a state of depression he doesn’t want to talk to anyone.  He has gotten some assistance through our local domestic violence center.  Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
