I was just hired by a contractor and I understand that with a 1099, my current loan payments will not qualify for the 120 payments towards my public service loan forgiveness, towards which I’ve made perhaps 20 payments.
It is very unclear to me, however, whether I continue to qualify for income based-repayment. I’m hoping that since I consolidated under the 10 year at 10% plan that I’ll continue to qualify, but can you confirm that? Of course, I can’t even begin to afford 100% of my payment, which would far exceed 10% of my income.
How is ED dealing with folks who have to move in and out of the public service qualification, but still need IBR?
Thank you!
Heron
I am also very interested in this question. If you are enrolled in PSLF (and meeting all of the requirements) and receive additional employment on the side, are you disqualified?
