Enroll in a payment plan or defer when you do not have a a job upon graduation!

Dear Heather,

I was wondering whether I can enroll in a payment plan upon graduation if I end up not having a job or I should just defer paying my loans. I am only eligible for the income base repayment and not as you earn plan, because I had student loans before October 2007.

If you don’t have a job (and are single) IBR is perfect for you!  If you have no taxable income you will automatically qualify for the a $0.00 IBR plan.  If you have federal loans, visit http://www.studentloans.gov to fill out your application.
