Tax filing and IBR status

Good morning to all. I have been reading several of the IBR threads and the pros/cons of the different tax filing status - MFJ v MFS.  A majority of the postings have been very helpful and informative, but I want to make sure I have a clear understanding for my specific situation.
1. My wife and I have been married for 7 years - we have 1 child.
2. My wife has 2 student loans, both of which are currently in repayment status.
Approximate balance:  $30,000 on each loan = $60,000
3. All forbearance and deferments have been exhausted on both loans.
4. 0 payments have been made since loans came into repayment status, but loans are NOT yet in default.
5. We have recently requested the IBR paperwork, so the loans are currently on a 30-day administrative hold until paperwork is completed.
6. Both loans are solely in my wife’s name, as she had them prior to our marriage.
7. We have filed our taxes MFJ since we have been married, but plan on MFS this year due to the loans now being in repayment status and the expected monthly payments which are well beyond what I can support on my income alone.

Additional info:
1. We live in Ohio (NOT a community property state)
2. I am and always have been the single source of income for our home (My wife is a stay-at-home Mom).
3. I have NO student loan debt.
4. My name is not associated with any of my wife’s student loan debt (except now by marriage)
5.  My current salary is approx 50K annually.
6. Last year’s AGI (MFJ) was approx $38,000.

Questions:
1. Knowing that the student loan companies will ask for last year’s tax returns (for IBR calculation purposes); should I also plan on submitting a copy of this year’s returns since we will be filing MFS - which will show my wife’s income at $0?  Or…
A) submit an “alternative documentation of income form”?
B) “Injured Spouse Allocation” doc?

Any help or additional info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I would also be interested in hearing the answer/responses to the questions that this poster posed.
