Getting incorrect info. removed from NSLDS site

Long story short, I have a tremendous amount of student loan debt after attending law school. The sum is so exorbitant that I will admit to burying my head in the sand for the first couple of years after graduation, an action which resulted in my defaulting on several of the loans.

In July of 2013, I was able to consolidate all of my education debts through Sallie Mae. All outstanding loans - both defaulted and not - were paid in full, including penalties and interest. Within a few months of the consolidation, the “default” notation shown at the NSLDS web-site was removed from all but two of my defaulted loans. There are still two loans that show up on the NSLDS database as currently in default (despite having been paid in full); both were last updated on 28 February 2012, more than two years ago.

I need some advice on how to go about getting this information corrected/updated. I have been in contact with both NSLDS and the Default Resolution Group of the Dept. of Ed., both of whom disclaim any responsibility for the incorrect info. and/or any ability to correct it. NSLDS says that they will not remove or update information until they are directed to by the Dept. of Ed., and the Dept. of Ed. says that they have submitted requests to update beginning in July of 2013, and can do nothing more.

Do you have any pointers or suggestions for how I should proceed? It is frustrating not to have any confirmation that my loans are indeed in good standing (especially considering the amount of money involved), and I worry about the possible consequences of the incorrect data with regard to maintaining decent credit, possibly returning to school, and/or having my wages/tax refund garnished or seized.
