I got my masters in architecture (a 3.5 year program) in-state at a public university. I had a graduate teaching assistantship that cut my in-state tuition in half and gave me a stipend. I maxed out my loans each year, but all were federal loans (no private loans). I was expecting to graduate with around $60,000 like my fiance who went through the program with me. However, once I consolidated are graduation I suddenly had $105,000 in student loans! Now, my loan has been transferred from the feds to great lakes student loan servicing and within a year my total has gone from $105,000 to $117,000! I have no clue what is going on - who should I contact to help me look into my loans? I have a suspicion that my school screwed up my records somehow. I really need someone to help me investigate but I don’t know who that person is (i.e. - do I need an accountant? a lawyer?)
Have you looked at the NSLDS website to see what is recorded there?
