Breaking IBR Rules?

This will have been my third year under IBR.  In February, I filled out my renewal, after several months, so correspondence and full payments kicked in.  I called and they put me under forbearance and told me they (Sallie Mae) were behind and that I should be hearing something soon.  My forbearance finished and payments started with still no word on the renewal.  I called and after an hour on the phone (58 mins to be fair) I was told that there was a problem with my IBR and that it would be “Expedited”, which meant from that point, 21 days until I might hear something.  It’s August 15th, six months later.  I called today because of the late notices and was told (after holding for 10 minutes) that I had filled out the wrong form.  Their instructions were to fill out the correct form and resubmit.

Have I broken the terms of the agreement by having the late payments now?  Is it possible that I go through this year after year and at some point, they look back at this and tell me that I cannot have loan forgiveness at the end because of it?

With Gratitude,
