My husband and I did a spousal consolidation under SallieMae before they became illegal. We would like to do a Direct Loan Consolidation and take advantage of Teacher Loan Forgiveness and Loan Discharge program. We have been told that we are not eligible for the Direct Loan Consolidation because they don’t accept “spousal consolidated loans”. Is there anything we can do to take advantage of the Department of Ed. programs?
