Changing Tax Filing Status for Next Year Income Tax Filing

My student loan IBR will require the annual renewal this upcoming November 2014 and my wife and I plan to file our taxes as “married filing separately”. We live in Texas, a community property state and we have filed our taxes as married filing jointly. Is it permitted to use the alternative documentation method , such as paystubs, to provide my proof of annual income or do I need to select “married filing jointly” and provide our income tax return for 2013?
