Oldest child is sophmore in highschool. Wondering when i should start trying to figure out the student loan world. Never went to college so pretty clueless. Only know that student loans will have to be part of the picture.

Never too soon!  In fact there are things you can do while in college that will help with overall picture of loans.  For instance if you make payments within 120 days of disbursement for a loan, you can have that go straight to principal and “cancel” the interest which makes your payment credit for me than what you submitted.  This is called a borrower cancellation payment.  Also if you put payments towards Unsubsidized Loans wile in school which are accruing interest while the govt is satisfying sub loans, this can help you overall as well.
