Need advice please… I just found out from Dept of ED that my defaulted loans are currently held by one of the agencies who Dept of ED cut ties with. With that in mind, I am hesitant to contact the terminated agency to get started with the rehabilitation process to get my loans in good standing. Through research I learned that “The Department of Education said it is now in the midst of reassigning the accounts held by the five companies that are not already in repayment to other agencies”. My loan is currently not in repayment with the rogue collector. My question is, should I go ahead and “trust” the rogue agency and get the rehab process started on my loans with them or wait and maybe my account will be assigned to a different collector. ANY advice is appreciated!
