Fraudulent Master Promissory Note

Heather,

My loans were consolidated two years ago and placed into ICR without my knowledge.  My HPL had been placed into default and the collection agency that the university forwarded it to filled out a fraudulent MPM and forged my signature.

I have filed reports with both the student loan ombudsmen and the fraud department of my current servicer..

While those gears are turning, however, I need to reduce my monthly payment.  If I submit income documentation for ICR, is there any possibility that this could work against me in the future?  The funds were placed into ICR fraudulently and I am afraid if I continue in ICR it will somehow show that I “accept” the inappropriate change.

I hope that made some sense.

Thanks,
John

John, I suggest you consult with an attorney.  I’m a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, and that’s a good place to look for a consumer focused lawyer: http://consumeradvocates.org/
