Dear Heather -
We advise our students to secure employer verification forms along the way, but have run into a conundrum.  During the time a student is working in a post-graduate public service setting, but on a fellowship paid by his/her law school, who is the employer for the purposes of signing the form??  Our law school makes it very clear to students that we are not the “employer”, but the student’s host is now saying they are not the “employer” either.  What to do??

I’m guessing it would be whoever issues the tax forms. So whoever is handling the payroll.
