Trying to consolidate defaulted loans into an IBR

Ok so I have several student loans and some of them ...two to be exact went into default.  The only way I have seen to get out of default short of paying them off is to consolidate into a new loan and include them because I don’t qualify for a loan cancellation.  I am married, filed jointly with my husband last year but unemployed so I have no income and my husband has loan debt of his own and I do not want to combine his and mine.  The loans that were in default were forgiven except for the interest and the interest on those loans is actually what’s causing the default.  My question is…. is the IBR the right loan for me, if approved, will the interest on those defaulted loans be taken care of in the consolidation and will the fact that I have no income of my own weigh more heavily in a consolidation or will they use my husband’s income to determine what I should pay?  Thanks in advance for the advice!
