Errors in Qualifying Payments

Hello everyone,

I’ve been having a slew of problems with PSLF through FedLoan. I’m going to create two posts to keep the issues separate, but if you’re curious, check out this article for my other issue:

http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/some_nonprofit_employees_get_notified_they_dont_qualify_for_student_loan_fo

I’ve been on Income Based Repayment since I started paying off my student loans in November 2012. I have always enrolled in direct debit so my payments would never be late and be the correct amount. However, from May 2013 - May 2015, only 21/23 payments are showing up as “qualifying payments” for PSLF. To make matters worse, only 6/12 payments from May 2015-May 2016 appear as qualifying.

When I called about the two missing payments from 2013/2014, I was told that one was due to an incomplete payment amount and one due to administrative forbearance. All of my payments were the correct amount as I pay the IBR amount via direct debit. I am also bewildered that an administrative forbearance (due to a tech glitch on Sallie Mae’s end) during I month I actually did make a full payment wouldn’t count. I suppose I should submit proof of payment to Fedloan with a written request to include these two months.

I’m almost afraid to call and ask about the only 6/12 qualifying payments from last year.

Has anyone else encountered these issues, and if so, gotten them resolved? I foresee hours of phone calls in my future.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jocelyn
