In August, the National Labor Relations Board ruled that graduate students are considered employees (https://www.nlrb.gov/news-outreach/news-story/board-student-assistants-covered-nlra-0). Does this mean that graduate students can start working towards public service loan forgiveness by making qualified payments? Do we need to enroll in a payment plan?
I’m a graduate student at a non-profit university with a massive amount of debt from veterinary school. If I can start building up my qualification for PSLF, that would be great! How would I go about confirming that any payments made during graduate school qualify for PSLF? My loan servicer currently has my loans in deferment because I am in school, do I need to put them into repayment?
