My loans were prior to 1998 and were consolidated into a direct student loan years ago. I taught for 3 years at a tribal college, at several public universities, a community college, and was at a public library for 10 years. Only the last seven years of my library career is eligible for the “new” public service loan forgiveness program which began October 2007. Is there any way to get “credit” for service prior to 2007? Or are there any other programs which would take my earlier career into consideration?
