Hi,
I have several student loans I am paying on. Does each payment count as a monthly payment (suh as I pay on 7 loans in one month that will be 7 monthly payments or does only one payment count towards the 120 requirement)
Assuming you are in a correct repayment plan and in qualifying employment, my understanding is that each loan needs to have 120 monthly payments. So if you make 7 monthly payments for 7 loans in any given month, that will count as 1/120 for each of those 7 loans.
that is correct. You have to have 120 qualifying payments on each loan to qualify. As stated you must also have to have made that payment in the correct payment window (no more htan 30 before, no more than 15 after due date) and be on a qualifying payment plan (10 year standard amt, income driven plan, or amount that is equal to or greater than amount on 10 year standard). Better way to think of it, if you make a qualifying payment every month it’ll take you 10 years to qualify, if you get a new loan 5 years in, it’ll take 10 additional years for that one.
