Hi all,
I took my loans out per semester, and consequently ended up with nine separate loans. Of the nine, six are Direct loans, and to my understanding, eligible for PSLF.
I am two and a half years into a public service job, and have been making payments under IBR for that two and a half year period.
Obviously, I’d love to have the three non-Direct loans consolidated into Direct loans to make that debt eligible for PSLF.
Would I be best served by consolidating all nine of my loans together? Or by consolidating only the three non-Direct loans together? (My concern with the former is that I am afraid doing so world restart my 120 payments clock).
Thanks in advance for your consideration and input.
I’d definitely not consolidate all of your loans together. It would reset any progress that you’ve made on them. Just consolidate the three together as a separate loan and apply for forgiveness twice… At least, that’s how I think it works….
