Is a IBR application based on your 2014 income tax?  What if you own your own business?

Hello,

My wife has a 80k school loan from her Master’s degree with Nelnet.  Recently they increased her monthly payments to $1000 due to the fact that she reported a income increase from her business she opened 4 months ago.

My questions are:
- Can the revenues from her new business be a considered as her income even though her profit margin is minimal?  She pays herself a salary of 3k per month, which is not sufficient to pay the $1000 monthly payment.
- When applying for the IBR, can she use her 2014 income tax revenue ? Last year she had a full time job
- How can she provide proof of income for the IBR when her salary is now part of the business’s revenue?

At this time we are newly married and file separate for the 2014 income tax.

It appears that the personal return is what is looked at.  How is the business organized?  Is it a c-corp, s-corp, what?
